Build an Energy-Efficient Home
The best time to think about the energy efficiency of your home is at the design stage.
At Atlantic Energy, just using your house design we can calculate how much your annual running costs will be.
We can then suggest cost-efficient changes to the design that will improve the energy performance and reduce running costs.
For each change that we suggest in the report we will:
- estimate the cost of making that change
- estimate how much money that change is likely to save you annually
- advise on how long the change will take to pay for itself
It makes sense to do this at design stage.
It is a lot easier to incorporate improvements during construction and it is also cheaper. Your annual running costs will be reduced so you will save money year-on-year. The improvements we suggest will pay for themselves within a number of years.
We offer this service to people building their own homes and to architects.
We currently work with Kevin Gartland Architects, a highly-regarded Cork-based firm of architects. When they work on a house design with a client they use our expertise in energy-efficiency and renewable technologies. We advise them on appropriate technologies, for example, whether or not solar water heating is suitable for a particular house design and client. Our goal, as with KGA, is to provide the client with the best solution that fits their particular needs.
